Welcome to Oliver Askew Racing
At just 18 years of age, Oliver has already set himself apart as a professional driver capable of achieving multiple victories and championships.
From the earliest days of his career the young American’s glowing talent attracted strong attention, and in 2011 elite karting outfit Ocala Gran Prix bestowed him with an opportunity to demonstrate his ability at a much higher level. With his undeniable speed and highly analytical approach to setting up his racing machinery, to say that he didn’t disappoint would be an understatement. A series of assured performances saw the bright prospect upstage several of the world’s best karters to finish second in his first international championship, before taking the Florida Winter Tour junior title only a year later.
Further success followed Oliver’s graduation to the next echelon of karting. Throughout the course of his maiden senior season in 2013 he outclassed the competition to seize the United States Rotax MAX championship crown, thus becoming the only rookie driver in history to win the national title. Not only that, but he also went on to seize the Pan-American title in the same year. With his ever-increasing skill and perceptive technical ability taking him to further championship glory in the 2014 Florida Winter Tour senior series and his maiden European BNL Senior Max crown this year, it’s no wonder Oliver received top billing in respected karting authority Kart360’s senior Power Rankings for the 2014 season.
It’s also unsurprising that Oliver’s glittering CV rapidly made him an enticing proposition on the global stage, and his most recent on-track exploits certainly highlight him as a future champion of elite international motorsport. Indeed, his success in karting earned him a seat with Absolute Racing for the final two rounds of this year’s Formula Masters China Series campaign – an opportunity the youngster was not going to waste.
Despite having had no prior testing, Oliver defied all the odds and truly made his presence felt with an astonishing performance in only his second ever single- seater outing. The multiple karting champion not only outpaced most of the field in first qualifying to clock the second fastest time behind his experienced team mate, but also beat the likes of newly-crowned champion Martin Rump to second and third place in the first two races.
The ability to adapt to new challenges whilst delivering consistently strong performances is something often desired but seldom delivered by young drivers; it’s a formula that requires particularly unique talent to achieve. Having built up such a stunning portfolio in his short career Oliver has become a true champion of that work ethic, and his skill set will only take him to even greater heights next year...
